Do you ban....
Question: "Hacker" Names?
Answer: Yes. I ban these players automatically for a few reasons. Firstly, I am going to assume that they hack & want to do so without accountability, so they use a dime-a-dozen random combination of letters which is hard to remember should you want to report them.
Here's an interesting thought: have you ever banned a player named "askldfjasj" and they complained that you banned them? I've never once heard a complaint. I've banned 100 players with those names over the years, not one single complaint has been voiced. Silence, in this case, is probably an admission of guilt.
Moreso, if a player is so unoriginal to use that as a name, GTFO of my game anyway. Go & play with someone else.
At this point, they probably troll the lobby looking for a hacker host who will allow them to join his game.
Question: Crude/Vulgar Names?
Answer: Yes. Sorry if I don't want to play with people named "ass-crud" or something juvenile & stupid. It's not that I will flat-out ban them, but if their are 7 people in my game guess who is the first to go. They're probably BM at the very least. Even if not, I don't feel like seeing their dirty name all game. They can be funny and immature at someone else's barbecue.
Question: Bad Records?
Answer: Sometimes. I'm from the old school where records don't mean much. Unless a record is 2-12 or exhibits the characteristics of a hacker, I generally keep them on either team. 38-54? You can probably stay, unless a team specifically requests a kick.
The way I see it, you're in an expert game. You aren't here to complain about allies. Deal with it, Expert. Even if 38-54 guy ends up being worst in game, it's part of the deal. If horrible, we can just ban him next game knowing he can't compete. Plus, its a 50/50 proposition when dealing with random teams. You just never know.
Question: Bad Manner?
Answer: No If someone wants to talk s***, that's their problem. In fact, I think a bit of dialogue can make things interesting. The truth is, I'm not in SC games for dialogue. I generally ignore what gamers have to say pre-game & during. Post game talkers can piss me off though, if they whisper me crying or something.
Question: Clans?
Answer: LOL. I love when Clans join games and try to direct traffic, telling us who to ban to make sure their friends get a seat. My rule is, if I have to ban more than 1 person for his friends to come in, it's easier just to ban the clansman. Although, it IS fun to take a successful team & smash a clan to pieces with it. (Not so fun with Randoms)
Question: Laggers?
Answer: Have to ban all laggers. It sucks when you have to ban a good player because of a network conflict, a player who otherwise doesn't lag except in your games.
Well, who is on your ban list and why? Do you automatically ban bad records, or let's say records that are less than convincing? |

another good rule about banning people, is when the people in )v( start talking shit or whatever, because they want to see me play someone 1v1 so bad, they start flameing and trying to piss me off thinking thats some kind of motivation to get me to play, and when i finally host that 1v1, they expect out of all sincerity they have the ability to b an observer in game..
WRONG !!
before i ban them, i like to prep them up a bit'
i ask them questions like " hey u ready to ob " i think this is going b a gg ". " thanks for allowing me to play this guy ", " i hope i impress you ", " you ready to watch this shit ?? "
right before the game start or in the count down i BAN the shit out of them. i dont think anyone feels better emotionally when they have the power to ban a faggot from a computer game. its just so lovely. what can i say ..
when i ban people usually my right hand presses the left click button quite hard like im giving them a good punch in the face for even trying to think they can ob a game when they have just flamed me for over 5 mins straight.
i swear man, some people on bnet are just clueless.. seriously..

There is no censorship on BNet! Thereby, this isn't a question of free speech versus censorship at all. I suppose I was just asking if it's a reflection of something deeper, or there was a more substantial reason for saying it. Feel free to set me straight here.

LOL! Me too- it's a very official looking message. It almost makes a person feel bad when they see it, like they broke the law or something. I love how official it looks to- it pops up like it's the only thing that matters:
YOUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE!
Ahahaha. They better keep it for SC2.
YOU MOTHER HAS BEEN SLAPPED!

True, but first you spoke of joining games, not hosting.
Besides, you can substitute an "L" for the "I" and it's not censored. The constraints are virtually non-existent.
